Men all over the world are growing their moustaches again, in celebration of Movem-ber, a global movement, in November, that aims to build awareness around preventa-ble men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide.

Q: Why did the Movember Foundation choose to focus on prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide?
A: These health issues are some of the biggest facing men today.
Q: What is the main goal of the Movember movement?
A: It aims to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%, by 2030.
Q: Is the Movember movement growing?
A: Yes. It started in 2003 with only 30 moustaches. Today the movement has over 5 million. Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting its cause from all over the world.
Q: How much has Movember raised over the last couple of years?
A: In 2020, the Movember Foundation raised $121.7 million from campaigns around the world. In 2021, the foundation raised $135.1 million.
Q: What does Movember do with the money donated?
A: Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1 250 men’s health projects around the world. It also uses the funds to challenge the status quo and motivate men to take action around their health.
Q: Can women participate in Movember?
A: Yes, women can play an important role in raising awareness. Studies have shown that men are less likely to talk about their health, or even visit a physician, than women. As a result, women can help men to break down the barriers that surround those simple health con- versations.
Q: What unusual benefit do you get from growing your facial hair?
A: According to an Australian study published in the journal, Radiation Protection Dosimetry, facial hair provides around 90% to 95% protection against harmful UV rays that cause skin cancer.
