Women keep families and communities together. They care, protect, feed and teach. They offer kindness, love, faith, guidance and understanding to those around them. Many women also make money for their families and communities through their work.

Other important things women do:

  • They teach the young ones about their heritage – where they come from.
  • By what they do, they teach their daughters how to become women, and their sons how to treat women.
  • They help to make important decisions for the family.
  • When family members become old or sick, they take care of them.
  • They pass down beliefs through song, storytelling and dance.

You may not always notice what women do, because it always gets done, but that doesn’t mean it’s not important.
