1. There are many benefits to exercise including physical, medical, psychological, and emotional matters. The human being needs to be active, it is that simple.
  2. We need strenuous exercise (150-180 minutes a week) as well as incidental gentler activity (30 minutes every day).
  3. For most of us the ideal exercise programme is about 50-70% cardio, 20-40% strength training, and 10-20% flexibility work. In each area there are many options.
  4. Gyms are great but do not suit everyone. You do not need a gym, or a lot of money, to exercise and lead an active life. Get creative and get active!
  5. There are hundreds of ways to get more active each day. It is just a matter of developing a mind-set that always looks for activity opportunities.
